Engineer the Change Scholarship

About Us

MediaOps is the omniversal media company covering the key sectors of the IT industry that are re-shaping technology and the world we live in. We are home to the world’s most popular IT communities such as DevOps.com, Security Boulevard, Container Journal, TechStrong TV and more.

We are proud to be teaming up with Boca Code, a coding school that provides comprehensive training in software development through real-world projects and programs, to offer the Engineer the Change Scholarship.

The scholarship aims to provide minorities within the South Florida community an opportunity to acquire the skills they need for a successful career in the tech industry. The scholarship will be awarded twice per year (once each in the Spring and Fall), with two students receiving $10,000 each to put toward the Software Engineering Course at Boca Code.

Eligibility

  • Must be over 18 years of age to apply.
  • Only those who are part of an underrepresented community (i.e. women, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans and other minority groups) will be eligible.
  • Applicants must reside in South Florida.

How to Apply

Submit an essay (minimum of 500 words in length) detailing how you will serve as a role model to other minority individuals who hope to acquire the skills you will acquire from the Boca Tech program. You should also include text about what type of role in the tech industry you are hoping to pursue.

Applications are now open for the Fall 2021 scholarship for the Software Engineering Course starting on September 20, 2021 and running until December 3, 2021. The deadline for the Fall 2021 term has now passed.

We will reopen March 1, 2022 – March 25, 2022 for submissions for the spring term. Our winner(s) for the spring term will be announced on March 28, 2022. The Boca Code spring session will run from April 18 – June 24, 2022.
